4. Nutanix Objects – Data klaar voor de clouds
Steeds meer applicaties zijn in staat gebruik te maken van S3 compatible opslag. Dit is een opslag methodiek waarin data opgeslagen kan worden in buckets als objecten. Dit biedt verschillende voordelen ten opzichte van traditionele opslagmethodes zaoals SMB, NFS of een aan een server gekoppelde disk. Door gebruik te maken van objecten kan data eenvoudig op grote schaal en over meerdere clouds worden opgeslagen. Ook kan de data worden beschermd tegen aanpassingen, zoals bijvoorbeeld door ransomware wordt gedaan, en kan data eenvoudig op basis van eigenschappen (metadata) worden verplaatst naar andere opslagmedia of andere cloud omgevingen. Nutanix ondersteund dit in haar Objects product. Veel gebruikte usecases zijn data uit cloud native applicaties, back-up storage en scale-out long term storage zoals o.a. in de medische wereld wordt gebruikt.
